UK AGENCY CONFIRMS THE NEWS OF A GREEK TANKER BEING ADRIFT IN RED SEA AFTER SEVERAL ATTACKS

According to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), on Wednesday morning (21st August, 2024), the vessel, operated by Athens based Delta Tankers Ltd., was attacked in the Red Sea by fifteen people operating from two small boats, 77 nautical miles (142 km) west off Yemen’s port city of Hodeidah. The repeat attacks triggered a fire and eventually led to the engine losing its power. The ship was found to be adrift.
There was no news of any casualty amongst its 25 members crew team onboard. The Greece based company confirmed in its statement that minor damages were caused to the vessel after the attack. It added that the vessel will proceed on its route after an assessment by the crew.
