The Japanese Shipbuilder and Engine maker found itself in troubled waters, when it was found to be manipulating its data numbers to be able to comply with the government norms. Prior to Kawasaki, Hitachi Zosen and IHI admitted to have carried out data manipulations. After the first two revelations of data tampering, the Japanese authorities demanded all engine makers to examine their data and report it back.

Further investigations are expected to continue to catch more shipbuilders and engine makers manipulating their numbers.
