INDONESIA TO HOST SECOND SUSTAINABILITY FORUM (ISF) IN JAKARTA NEXT MONTH
Indonesia’s Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment is entrusted with the responsibility to coordinate and execute the second largest climate event in the Asia Pacific region after COP29 held in Azerbaijan in Nov 2023.

The event is slated to be held between Sept 5thto 6th in Jakarta Convention Centre and attract 9000 delegates from across the world. As on date, more than 8,000 participants had registered, including high-level officials from Malaysia, Singapore, and the Vatican. There will be 10 plenary sessions, 15 thematic discussion sessions and roundtable discussions to discuss possible ways to align economic growth and build a green industry through new and renewable energy sources, as well as to environmental protection from air pollution and waste management. According to Xinhua news agency, the summit will bring together CEOs, sustainability experts and international leaders to explore ways to advance the green economy and support decarbonization initiatives.
The forum's goal, as explained by Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan is to arrive at an agreement on balanced environmental preservation efforts, decarbonization, development of green industries through down-sampling, production of green electricity and mineral processing. This covers issues concerning waste management and utilization of renewable energy sources.
While speaking at a Press Conference, he told the media, “This is an important forum to show the world Indonesia's leadership and initiative for sustainable development. Indonesia has become a success model in sustainability improvement, including through our nickel down streaming, The forum must be followed by real follow-ups”.
