The explosion occurred on 9th August. The Zhejiang Province Authorities acknowledged the presence of hazardous materials but refused to specify more details. No casualties were reported.
Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, where the Taiwanese cargo vessel was parked, is considered to be one of the busiest ports in China. The cargo ship on which the said container was parked, goes by the name YM Mobility and it belongs to a Taiwanese Shipping company, Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. Swift measures were taken to douse the fire, in order to prevent a cascading effect on other containers on the vessel as well as the ships parked in close proximity.
Following the blast, it took the port a couple of days to resume operations. As of reports 14th August, the port authorities confirmed that the port is returning back to normalcy and handling the cargo traffic efficiently.
